Civil Society Organizations Proposes Recommendations for the National REDD Strategy

TODAY civil society organizations present proposed recommendations to the REDD Task Force on the National REDD Strategy. The Strategy, which will serve as the guiding document for REDD implementation in Tanzania, will for the first time be publically shared with civil society at the National REDD Learning Event held in Dar es Salaam today. Professor Pius Yanda, the Secretariat to the National REDD Task Force, will make the presentation.


REDD Policy Brief: Key Design Issues for the National REDD Strategy

The Tanzania Forest Working Group just released a policy brief, "Options for REDD in Tanzania: Key Design Issues for the National REDD Strategy." REDD presents both risks and opportunities for forest conservation and poverty reduction in Tanzania. It has the opportunity to increase national, district, and local benefits from forests, and to diversify local incomes from natural resource management.


10-10-2010: Calling for Action on Climate Change

On 10-10-2010 Dar es Salaam residents will ride bicycles from Mnazi Mmoja carrying climate messages to be heard world wide. The event is part of a global effort to get people from around the world to demonstrate to national and international leaders that people across the globe want real action on climate change.

The event will be held at Mnazie Mmoja Grounds, beginning at 8:00am and going until 4:00pm. If you don't have a bike come anyways and show your support, as there will be music and clean-up activities as well.


A Road Through the Serengeti?

Recent articles and a statement from the Communications Officer of Tanzania National Parks have confirmed that the Tanzanian Government is planning to build a commercial road that cuts directly through the Serengeti. This is becoming a very hot topic, especially within the conservation community in Tanzania and even internationally, and TNRF would like to alert our members to the issue and provide information so they can learn more.
