Pastoralist Program Training and Learning Coordinator

The Pastoralist Program is managed by CARE and funded by Irish Aid.  While CARE manages funds, the program is executed by implementing partner organizations. TNRF has entered a contract with CARE to facilitate dialogue and learning amongst the implementing partners, including providing leadership training and training on pastoral systems, pastoral land use and related policies. TNRF will also explore and promote modalities for learning between implementing partners and between these partners and other agencies. The purpose of TNRF’s engagement is to enable the pastoralists communities to address, advocate and lobby on their communities’ needs and to influence national and local policies and regulation to strengthen pastoralist livelihoods. This will be achieved by bringing pastoralist communities together, providing training to them and stimulating them to participate in dialogue and sharing knowledge and experience. 
 
Currently, TNRF is looking for a driven Pastoralist Training and Learning Coordinator who will lead this important and challenging program. The Pastoralist Program Training and Learning Coordinator will be member of the pastoralist program management team composed of both CARE and TNRF staff, while reporting to the TNRF Head of Programs. As a Pastoralist Program Training and Learning Coordinator it will be your responsibility to coordinate and training for pastoral Civil Society Organizations to enable them to address, advocate and lobby on their communities’ needs. Not only will you coordinate the training of the pastoralists, you will also facilitate advocacy of pastoralists in order to influence policy and implementation.
 
To be successful in this job, a master degree is required, for example in natural resource management, environmental studies or sustainable development studies and through your experience you have gained thorough knowledge on issues concerning pastoral systems and land use. You also have knowledge of processes related to development of policies in Tanzania and the region. Experience in training of adults would be considered an added advantage. Being passionate about the need for improved/better pastoral systems governance and strengthened land and livelihood rights for pastoralists is required. You are political sensitive and you are able to influence the attitudes of implementing partners and policy makers, gaining their support for proposals and plans. You will have proven project management skills and experience and you are prepared for extensive field work in remote rural areas of Tanzania. Being fluent in written and spoken English and Kiswahili is an important requirement.
