The Wildlife Conservation Society Tanzania (WCST) is a national Tanzanian NGO working in collaboration with the Government and people of Tanzania to implement the sustainable management of natural resources and environment using participatory approaches. The Society is a non-governmental and non-profit-making organization, which was established in 1988, and committed to the conservation of flora, fauna and the environment in general. The Society undertakes advocacy for the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources and environmental health.

WCST is interested in recruiting a qualified and experienced individual to fill the vacant position of its Deputy CEO/Coordinator.

Overall Responsibilities: The overall objective of the position is to increase the capacity for the Society to deliver expertise services and creating awareness, providing lessons learned and knowledge for active participation in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the conservation of natural resources and environment health at all levels.

Basic Qualification

• Minimum qualification is Bachelor's degree and 7 years managerial experience in the field of natural resources and environmental conservation project development and strategic planning

• Experience in leading team work of professionals.

• Experience in overseeing the development, direction, implementation and management of multiple projects and strategic goals.

• Experience in managing donor funded projects or implementing joint venture content management systems.

• Experience in working with cross-functional teams across multiple organizational levels.

Responsibilities for the Deputy CEO/Coordinator

1. This is a Senior Managerial position whereby the employee will report to the CEO/Coordinator thought he/she is answerable to the Executive Committee and will assumes the position of the CEO's when the later travels and therefore is outside his office in Dar Es Salaam.

2. The employee's responsibilities include:

2.1 Assisting CEO in managing the Conservation Programme of the Society including its coordination, steering and management of activities within WCST and among its major partners and collaborators.

2.2 Assist CEO in organizing Executive Committee Meetings and the Annual General Meetings for WCST Members.

2.3 Responsible for initiating and development of new projects proposals as provided for in the Society's Strategic Plan.

2.4 Assist the CEO in organizing Secretariat Meetings and preparation of relevant documents and reports for the same.

2.5 Ensure preparation of annual work plans and monitoring of their implementations including budgets for conservation activities of the Society in Dar Es Salaam and in the Branch Offices in Arusha and Morogoro.

2.6 Assist in the Review of projects implementation plans budget and other adjustments during the inception phase.

2.7 Supervise various staff working in the Conservation Department country wide.

2.8 Ensure that the Society aims and objectives are closely integrated within projects under implementation.

2.9 Effect periodic field visits to areas where the Society has projects under implementation to monitor progress and provide assistance where necessary.

2.10 Represent the Society in official meetings, workshops, seminars etc as and when necessary.

2.11 Participate in the organization of annual or bi-annual reviews of projects and other conservation activities being undertaken by the Society in accordance with donor requirements

2.12 Compilation of quarterly physical as well as financial reports to be submitted to the Executive Committee and partners/donors. This will help inform project partners i.e. Government Departments, Donors and others on WCST activities and where possible participate in meetings to discuss management issues.

2.13 Participate in advocacy work for the Society countrywide programme to raise awareness on conservation issues that are pertinent
