Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF) is an Arusha based network organization that focuses on the improvement of natural resource governance in Tanzania. TNRF brings members and partners together and helps them to bridge the gap between their local natural resource management needs and practices and national natural resource management priorities, policies, laws and programs. One of the programs managed by TNRF is the Programme for Supporting Food Security and Livelihood Security through Improved Livestock and Tourism in Pastoralist Communities of Northern Tanzania funded by Belgium Survival Fund through TRIAS. Programme Officer

This programme aim to secure and improve Food and livelihood security for the target groups in Longido District and enhance active participation of local communities in local, social and economic development processes. This programme is implemented in partnership between TRIAS, TNRF, Ujamaa Community Resource Trust (UCRT), Pastoralist Women Council (PWC) and Longido Community Development Organization (LCDO). Through this programme, TNRF hopes to improve participation, information sharing and networking between programme partners; strengthen ccitizens' voice and engagement in the project area; build a knowledge base of practice developed amongst programme partners; and improve collaboration and communication with relevant stakeholders and partners at national and local level

As a Programme Officer, you will be responsible to work under the TNRF programmes department to execute plans and activities as agreed with other implementing partners; to facilitate and coordinate participation, information sharing and analysis, and networking between partners and other stakeholders; to coordinate refinement of strategies for improving agro-pastoral livelihoods, including between project and other projects with similar objectives; to strengthen learning, information flow, training and capacity development among partners; to facilitate engagement between local communities in the target area and district level decision-makers in collaboration with partners under the programme.

To be successful in this job, you need to have a clear vision on the branding of a Civil Society Organization like TNRF. You must be able to develop and maintain relations within and outside the organization and you must possess excellent communication vision and skills.

You need to have a relevant degree in sustainable development studies, community based natural resources management, environmental studies, or a related field; a thorough knowledge of issues concerning pastoral systems and related development of policies in Tanzania and the region, Proven experience in Project/Program Management, Skilled in the use of a range of monitoring tools to improve the strategies for achieving outcomes and for improving performance - experience in outcome monitoring or willingness to learn methodologies, Skilled in training and participatory learning methodologies, preferably with pastoral communities, Passionate about the need for improved/better pastoral systems governance and strengthened land and livelihood rights for pastoralists, with proven experience of working in civil society networks at community and national levels, Computer literate is MS-word, and other relevant software packages, Fluent in English and Kiswahili (including grammar, structure, punctuation and spelling) as well as fully understanding of the governance, development and the natural resource management sector is an asset
