Wildlife conservation in (Wildlife Management Areas) WMAs is key to boosting local ecotourism and livelihoods related activities for the communities living around WMAs. To ensure sustainable measures in wildlife monitoring, patrols and habitat assessment, data is key for informed decision making by the relevant authorities. In light of this, Tanzania Natural Resources Forum (TNRF) in collaboration with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Centre for Research Cooperation (CRC) trained for three days attended by 54 participants comprising of VGS and their leaders from MAKAO and IKONA WMAs and District Game Officers (DGOs); on Management Oriented Monitoring Skills (MOMS) - a simplified conservation monitoring system that enables VGS to collect, store and relay on wildlife related matters on real time.

Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF) offers extension of time for the Construction of WMA office, renovation of tourist hostel and information centre - Enduimet WMA.  The deadline is extended to latest Monday, 19th April 2021 at 5.30 pm to provide a greater opportunity for  bidders to compile proposals and file applications. WWF-Tanzania handed over a new project vehicle to TNRF on 31^st March, 2021 at WWF offices in Arusha to ensure efficient implementation of the project. The event was graced by representatives from WWF led by project coordinator Dr. Rolf and Head of Operations Mr. Lucason. TNRF team was led by Executive Director. The vehicle, a Toyota Land-cruiser Hardtop was handed by Tanzania WWF operation manager Mr. Lucason Maiga to TNRF director Mr. Zakaria Faustin who thanked WWF for the helping hand, noting that they entered into agreement with WWF to cooperate on conservation and that the donated vehicle would be useful in it's work, especially travelling in rural areas to raise awareness to the communities about environmental conservation, safeguarding forests, land and wildlife protection. The vehicle will also help smoothing the implementation of climate change resilient project in the 4 community and conservation management areas in northern Tanzania and the community management area in Kisima and Karamba-Ndea in Mkomazi wildlife corridor to see improvement in their climate resilience for effective management of natural resources and improved livelihoods and well-being of the community. Since most of the areas where the project is being implemented have poor road infrastructure, the vehicle will help reaching remote areas that could be difficult to reach.

TNRF aims at strategically support operations of  Endumeit WMA, improved infrastructure is very key to address the challenges they are facing like human wildlife conflicts, poaching and diminished income flow to sustain the operations of the WMA in the light of COVID 19 and climate changes challenges.
