Parliamentary Committee visits Namibian Community Conservancies

TNRF and Ujamaa Community Resource Trust took 10 members of the Parliamentary Natural Resource and Environment Committee to Namibia on a study tour to visit the community conservancies in Kunene between 20-28th November 2006. The objective of the study tour was to provide an opportunity for the Committee to see how Community-based Natural Resource Management can be successful in terms of conserving natural resources and substantially contributing to rural development and local livelihoods.

Forestry Working Group Meeting

The agenda of the meeting is:

• To present and discuss a summary report by the TNRF Secretariat of consultative meetings held in Arusha for different stakeholders and in Dar to FWG members;
• To develop a consensus and final agreement by FWG members on FWG’s Strategy and Action Plan developed from the two consultative meetings.
• To come to common agreement on a funding modalities/opportunites for the FWG to be effective and operational.
