Simanjiro & Lolkisale stakeholder meeting

Following up on the recommendation and resolution from the meeting between stakeholders and the Department of Wildlife on Friday May 2nd at the Mali Hai conference center in Arusha, we're proposing that we hold our first meeting at the TNRF offices on Wednesday May 14th at 1400hrs. Please see attached TNRF location map. The main agenda will be to discuss and resolve how we work together in harmony so please bring your ideas to the table for a constructive way forward.

Forest Governance in Tanzania: the TRAFFIC report

The aim of this seminar is to disseminate findings of the research conducted in 2005 by TRAFFIC East/ Southern Africa, and open up dialogue among policy makers and actors on the formal laws and regulations governing the management of Forestry resources. The paper will be presented by Dr. George Jambiya, Policy Officer with WWF Tanzania Programme Office, and will be chaired by Dr. Furaha Lugoe of Topo-Carto Consultants Ltd.

Wildlife Division consultations on the Non-Consumptive Wildlife-Use Regulations GN 196

The overall objective of the meeting is to seek and obtain opinions for the improvement of the GN196, prior to its implementation later this year. This consultation event is part of a Wildlife Division consultation initiative which is being facilitated in northern Tanzania jointly by the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and TNRF. Public hearing to review the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the proposed Lake Natron Soda Ash Plant

The Council is currently reviewing the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed Lake Natron Soda Ash Project submitted by Lake Natron Resources Ltd (a company owned jointly by National Development Corporation and TATA Chemicals of India). The EIS document is available at the Council's Library and can be accessed on working days beginning 10:00 a. m to 4:00 p. m.
