Meeting of the Informal Discussion Group on the Environment

IDGE was a "multi-disciplinary, multi-organisational, broad-based discussion group interested in, and concerned about, current and pending national and international environmental and conservation issues. The group facilitate[d] dialogue in a balanced way to raise the profile of relevant issues" (see attached 2000 Profile).

IDGE has been open to interested individuals and organizations from all sectors in Tanzania, including government, civil society, development partners, academia, etc.

Workshop on Human-Elephant Conflict

WWF will host a workshop on human-elephant conflict with the following aims:

  • To share diverse wildlife conservation experiences from central government, District Councils and the community
  • To evaluate various techniques and methods employed in reducing human-elephant conflicts
  • To generate strategies that enhance elephant conservation as well as mitigate the conflicts between humans and elephants in the southeastern zone of Tanzania

Book launch for "Wild Heart of Africa" about the Selous Game Reserve

In collaboration with TANAPA and GTZ, TNRF is organizing a book launch for a new book about the Selous Game Reserve. "Wild Heart of Africa - The Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania" is the story of the largest protected wildlife area in the world.
