Tackling Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT), what is a role of communities?

Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF) will collaborate with World Wide Fund (WWF) hosting the Elephant and Rhino Day on 22nd September 2020. This activity will comprise a series of events before the celebration day. This activity aims at raising awareness to villages with higher Human Wildlife Conflicts (HWC) in 10 villages in Tunduru District. The visit will also involve Tanzania Wildlife Authority (TAWA) and Tunduru District officials. During the event TNRF will share a documentary previously produced on tackling the IWT and disseminate booklets with illegal wildlife trade themes.

Objective of the Activity is showcasing the role of communities in tackling Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) at the National Elephant and Rhino awareness day. TNRF beneficiaries from the Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) located in the Northern circuit will have the opportunity to join the awareness tour organized by WWF to specified villages in Tunduru District.
