Joint Advocacy Taskforce engagement with the Government officials at the Ministry of Natural Resource and Tourism

On Wednesday 8th May 2019, Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF) in collaboration with the Joint Advocacy Taskforce (JAT) members and Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) through "Engaging Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Communities and Private Sector in advocacy" project met at the Dodoma hotel.The meeting aimed at reviewingthe impacts of advocacy on the prioritize common agendas that has been jointly implemented for the past ten months; and strategize on how best to engage with high level government officials responsible with enforcing good governance over the natural resources especially wildlife conservation and tourism.

Prior to this meeting, the secretariat (TNRF) had a short meeting with the Deputy Permanent Secretary and the Wildlife Director from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT) in Dodoma at the government city. The team has updated them on ongoing baseline survey on community involvement and contribution towards tackling Illegal Wildlife Trade across the country as well as familiarizes on TNRFs advocacy work in Land Based investment, Climate change and Community Based Natural Resource and Tourism.

JAT comprised of representatives from Tanzania Tour Operators (TATO), Tanzania Confederation of Tourism (TCT), Burunge and Mbarang’andu Wildlife Management Areas, Ujamaa Community Resource Team (UCRT), Community Wildlife Management Areas Consortium (CWMAC) and TNRF as the secretariat.
