Departure of the TNRF Coordinator
The TNRF secretariat announces the departure of its Coordinator, Dr. Andrew Williams, who has led TNRF since shortly after its establishment in 2006. The TNRF secretariat warmly welcomes Mr. Cassian Sianga who will take over from Andrew as the Acting Executive Director.
Andrew has coordinated TNRF's rapid programmatic development, including the establishment of four working groups and the expansion of TNRF's resource base and partnerships. In addition to leading TNRF's institutional growth, Andrew will be remembered for his untiring commitment and wit. The TNRF secretariat is also grateful for Andrew's continued commitment to TNRF in the coming months and years! At a small send-off party last week the TNRF secretariat and Steering Committee paid tribute to Andrew's many contributions. Good luck Andrew!
Mr. Cassian Sianga, TNRF's Senior Programme Officer for Forestry will lead TNRF as the Acting Executive Director, while the TNRF Steering Committee finalizes recruitment of a permanent Executive Director. For the past three years Mr. Sianga has coordinated the Tanzania Forestry Working Group, which has initiated the Mama Misitu Campaign on forestry governance, Independent Forest Monitoring, the roundtable discussions Carbon Credits and applied research on Biofuels.
