PARTICIPATORY RANGELAND MANAGEMENT POLICY ENGAGEMENTS WITH DIFFERENT GOVERNMENT MINISTRIES

On 30th November 2019, Participatory Rangeland Management (PRM) and Sustainable Rangeland Management Project (SRMP) partners; International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF), National Land Use Planning Commission (NLUPC), Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development (MLFD), KINNAPA, NAADUTARO, Kiteto District Council (KDC) had the opportunity to meet with the Deputy Minister and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development Hon. Abdalla Ullega and permanent secretary Hon. Prof Gabriel.

SHARING EXPERIENCE ON ECONOMIC IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON LIVELIHOODS OF THE PASTORAL COMMUNITIES DURING ANSAF LEARNING EVENT

Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF) had the opportunity to be in the panel discussion during the Agricultural Non State Actors Forum organized an annual learning event on 26th -27th held in Dodoma. Theme of the discussion focused on sharing experience about the impact of climate change in the livelihoods of farmers and pastoralists with key reference to the role of PRM in addressing climate related issues in pastoral areas through sustainable management of secured grazing areas.

MULTI - STAKEHOLDER FORUM HELD AT KITETO DISTRICT

Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF) in collaboration with KINNAPA under Ardhi Yetu Project(AYP) plus and Participatory Rangeland Management (PRM) project implemented in Kiteto District conducted Stakeholders dialogue on November 22nd2019. The dialogue aimed at sharing experience and achievement in resolution of matters related to land conflicts, governance accountability and climate change.

The dialogue brought 73 participants including; District Executive Director (DED), District Commissioner (DC), District Chairperson, UCRT, PAICODEO and NAADUTARO. The meeting also had an opportunity to receive a representative from the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO).  From the community; the dialogue was attended by representatives from grazing clusters under PRM project namely; - ALOLE, OLENGAPA, KIMBO and NAPALAI, and District Officers (Livestock Officer, Planning Officer, Environmental Officer, Agricultural Officer, Participatory Rangelands Management Officer, members of the District Peace and Security Committee, and Village Executive Officers).

Jumuiko la Maliasili Tanzania kwa kushirikiana na wadau wake wamekutana na Spika wa Bunge la Tanzania pamona na zaidi ya Wabunge 90 Marafiki wa Mazingira “Tanzania Parliamentarians Friends of Environment (TAPAFE)”. Miongoni mwa wabunge hawa ni Mawaziri na Naibu Mawaziri wa Wizara ya Ardhi Nyumba na Makazi, Maliasili na Utalii ambao nao walishiriki.

Lengo Kuu la mkutano huu ni kutathmini kazi za wadau zilizotekelezwa kwa kushirikiana na ofisi ya Spika wa Bunge pamoja na Wabunge wapenda Mazingira.

Kati ya mada zilizojadiliwa ni pamoja na mwingiliano wa sheria mbalimbali na jinsi zinavyoathiri utekelezaji wa majukumu kisekta. Ambapo katika hotuba yake Mh Spika amekiri kwamba kufikia malengo” “zipo sheria zenye matundu matundu ambazo zikiimarishwa zitaleta tija katika utekelezaji wake na hatimaye

Mh. Spika aliendelea kusisitiza kwamba: “Sote tu mashahidi wa mabadiliko ya Tabia Nchi na athari zitokanazo na mabadiliko hayo. Tunaona mvua nyingi zisizo za msimu na uharibivu mkubwa uliotokea kule Handeni na Korogwe na maeneo mengine…..
